Arthington legend Dennis Nash took his 400th wicket for the club in the 2nd XI’s 135-run victory against Ripley 4th XI on Saturday 4th May 2019.
The evergreen opening bowler was yet again instrumental in his side’s victory, claiming 4-27 from his 10 overs as the 2nd XI skittled their opposition for just 89. Dennis also contributed 5no with the bat.
Since joining Arthington in 2002, Dennis has established himself as one of the legends of the club, and you just need to take a look at his statistics to see why. He has notched up 287 matches, making him 4th on the all-time appearances list.
His 400th wicket means that he is only the second player in Arthington history to pass 400 wickets, and is second on the all-time wicket takers list. Now with 402 wickets for Arthington, deadly Dennis has claimed his scalps at an impressive average of just 19.69, and with a miserly economy rate of just 2.70 runs per over, and a best return of 6-16, Dennis has made a name for himself as not just a legend of Arthington Cricket Club, but of the entire Nidderdale League.
Many, many congratulations Dennis. A true gentleman of the game, we are proud to call you one of our own – and we just know that you will continue to terrorize league batsmen for many more years to come.
On behalf of everyone at Arthington Cricket Club, we wish you all the best, and congratulations again on the monumentous achievement.
