YOU WILL BE MISSED

Sadly, we have to say goodbye for now to Malcolm Barraclough.

Malcolm has stopped playing for the club after the 2018 season to pursue business interests in Scotland, where we wish him the best of luck but will miss him dearly.

Malcolm joined the club in 2011 having previously guested in our evening league side, and for several seasons played alongside his son Lawrence.

A stylish right-handed batsmen with a powerful lofted straight drive, Malcolm has accumulated a total of 1,797 runs for the club, with a highest score of 75. He has scored 8 fifties and is currently the 13th highest run-scorer in Arthington history.

An occasional right-arm spinner, he has taken 11 league wickets at an average of 26.27, with a best of 3-23.

Representing the club 120 times, Malcolm is 16th in the list of all-time appearances.

Malcolm was a key part of the 1st team success between 2013 and 2017 which took the 1st XI from division 7 to division 4. Playing in the 2nd XI, he won the 2018 batting averages, a fitting way to sign off for Arthington.

He is a player who has always put the club first, and has got us out of a number of scrapes with his solid performances in the middle order. He has served on the committee and audited the accounts at the end of the season. Malcolm has also captained the evening league side.

On behalf of Arthington Cricket Club, thankyou Malcolm for everything you have done, and we wish you all the very best for the future. You will be sorely missed and we hope that you find time to come visit us again soon.

See you again soon Malcolm, and good luck!

Malcolm Barraclough
