1,000 RUNS FOR ARTHINGTON

Congratulations go to Sajid Hussain, who passed the landmark of 1,000 runs for Arthington in the 1st XI's crucial victory over Whixley on 7th September 2019.

Sajid passed the milestone during his invaluable innings of 56 whilst opening the batting and chasing down the total of 175 set by the league-leaders.

A valuable all-rounder, Sajid also starred with the ball, claiming an Arthington career-best 5-31 to dismiss their previously-unbeaten hosts.

Congratulations Ahmer!

1,000 RUNS FOR ARTHINGTON

Congratulations go to Ahmer Sadiq Baqal, who passed the landmark of 1,000 runs for Arthington in the 1st XI's crucial victory over Rainton at the ACG on Saturday 13th July 2019.

Ahmer was instrumental in the victory, taking the new ball and helping himself to 3 wickets in a return of 3-18 from 8 overs. His 1,000th run for the club then came in the successful run chase where Ahmer batted 3 and scored 27.

One of Arthington's most valuable all-rounders, Ahmer reached his milestone in his 55th match for the club, and he is the 28th man to reach 1,000 runs.

Ahmer has always been one of the first names on the teamsheet since his debut in 2015, and has been instrumental in the 1st XI's rise in the ranks to division 3. He has helped himself to a total of 1,026 runs from his 55 matches at an average of 23.86. He has hit 5 fifties and notched up a high score of 80  not out.

He has also contributed much with the ball, taking 74 wickets at an average of 18.14 and a miserly economy rate of just 3.37 runs per over, with a best return of 4-8.

Jo Climbs to 2nd in Aggregate Runs

ONLY BASH HAS SCORED MORE RUNS FOR ARTHINGTON

Huge congratulations to Jo Nash who has moved into 2nd position in the all-time aggregate run scorers list for Arthington.

Jo’s big achievement came during his knock of 23 for the 2nd XI in the defeat to Birstwith 3rd XI at the ACG on 18th August 2018. In his innings, Jo overtook the long-standing position held by Richie Hunt to become the 2nd highest run scorer in Arthington league history. Only Arthington legend Brian “Bash” Meredith has scored more runs for the club.

Jo has now totaled 4,870 runs for the club, and although he still has some way to go to catch Bash’s total of 8,187 runs, his Arthington record is a very impressive one and he should close that gap considerably. The feat came about in his 165th innings of his 180th match for the club since his debut back in 2005. Jo had a very successful debut season however after that one season he left to play at a higher level, but he returned to the ACG in 2010 and has been a regular ever since, establishing himself as one of the most dependable and prolific run scorers in the club.

The opening batsman has an impressive Arthington career average of 37.18, notching up a total of 27 fifties and 8 centuries with a high score of 140. Only Naveed Andrabi (10) has scored more centuries and only Brian Meredith (37) more fifties.Add to this a total of 69 wickets at an average of 21.06 with a best of 6-52 and it is easy to see why Jo is one of the first names on any Arthington team sheet.

Jo is a former 1st team captain and currently holds the post of Secretary for the club.

Congratulations Jo from all at Arthington Cricket Club. Only another 3,317 runs to go!

More Records for Naveed

HE'S AT IT AGAIN!

Naveed Andrabi has been at it again, the prolific run-maker breaking more records at the ACG in the 1st XI's 90-run victory over Pannal 2nd XI on 11th August 2018. The Arthington skipper yet again led by example in registering his 4th century of the season before being cruelly run-out for 124.

The match-winning innings gave Naveed another batting milestone and in the process broke 2 more club batting records. His century was the 9th of Naveed's hundreds for the club, which now sees him hold the record for most league hundreds after overtaking Jo Nash's previous record of 8.

Naveed's knock also saw him pass 2,000 runs for the club, in record-breaking time. He passed the milestone in only his 31st match, which is the quickest ever in the club's history. Naveed is the 11th player to reach this mark, and ironically he now needs exactly 100 runs to break into the top 10 run-scorers of all time for Arthington.

Congratulations Naveed from all at Arthington Cricket Club.

Matt Moss – 1,000 Runs

CONGRATULATIONS MATT!

Congratulations to Matt Moss who reached the feat of scoring 1,000 runs for the club in the 1st XI’s crucial victory over Sessay 3rd XI at the ACG on the 7th July 2018.

Stand-in skipper Matt scored 26 batting 3 for Arthington in the top-of-the-table clash, and now becomes the 27th player in Arthington league history to reach 1,000 runs. He is the 3rd player this year to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs after Alex O’Neil and Martin Dickinson.
It was Matt’s 41st match for Arthington.
Matt has amassed a total of 1,017 runs since his debut in 2014, helping himself to 2 centuries and 6 fifties along the way. He currently holds an impressive Arthington career average of 40.68 with a high score of 108. He has also taken 4 wickets for the club at an average only slightly lower than his batting average – 39.75.
Congratulations again to Matt from all at Arthington Cricket Club.

Martin Dickinson – 1,000 Runs

CONGRATULATIONS DICKO!

Congratulations to Martin Dickinson who reached the feat of scoring 1,000 runs for the club in the 2nd XI’s defeat to Scotton 2nd XI at the ACG on the 23rd June 2018.

Martin helped himself to 58 runs before getting himself run out, then followed up with the only 2 wickets to fall in the 2nd innings to return 2-42.

Martin becomes the 26th player in Arthington league history to reach 1,000 runs and his effort on Saturday also saw him overtake last week’s fellow 1,000-club member Alex O’Neil to become the 24th highest run-maker for the club.

Martin’s achievement came from his 46th match for the club. He has amassed a total of 1,039 runs since his debut in 2013, helping himself to 1 century and 4 fifties along the way. He currently holds an Arthington career average of 25.98. Martin has also claimed 10 wickets for the club.

Congratulations again to Martin from all at Arthington Cricket Club.

Alex O’Neil – 1,000 Runs

CONGRATULATIONS ALEX!

Congratulations to Alex O’Neil who reached the feat of scoring 1,000 runs for the club in the rain-affected match against Helperby 2nd XI at the ACG on the 16th June 2018.

Alex hit an unbeaten 41 as the 1st XI racked up a mammoth 314-4 after just 40 overs. The hard-hitting run machine becomes the 25th player in Arthington league history to reach 1,000 runs and his effort on Saturday also saw him overtake Lawrence Barraclough to become the 24th highest run-maker for the club.

Alex accomplished the milestone in only his 27th match for the club. In our league history, only 3 players have scored more than 1,000 runs in fewer matches than Alex – Ben Lake, James Brennan and Naveed Andrabi – so Alex has joined a very elite club with this effort.

He has amassed a total of 1,028 runs since his debut in 2016, helping himself to 2 centuries and 6 fifties along the way. He currently holds a very impressive Arthington career average of 46.73.

Congratulations again to Alex from all at Arthington Cricket Club.
