Jo Climbs to 2nd in Aggregate Runs

Huge congratulations to Jo Nash who has moved into 2nd position in the all-time aggregate run scorers list for Arthington.

Jo’s big achievement came during his knock of 23 for the 2nd XI in the defeat to Birstwith 3rd XI at the ACG on 18th August 2018. In his innings, Jo overtook the long-standing position held by Richie Hunt to become the 2nd highest run scorer in Arthington league history. Only Arthington legend Brian “Bash” Meredith has scored more runs for the club.

Jo has now totaled 4,870 runs for the club, and although he still has some way to go to catch Bash’s total of 8,187 runs, his Arthington record is a very impressive one and he should close that gap considerably. The feat came about in his 165th innings of his 180th match for the club since his debut back in 2005. Jo had a very successful debut season however after that one season he left to play at a higher level, but he returned to the ACG in 2010 and has been a regular ever since, establishing himself as one of the most dependable and prolific run scorers in the club.

The opening batsman has an impressive Arthington career average of 37.18, notching up a total of 27 fifties and 8 centuries with a high score of 140. Only Naveed Andrabi (10) has scored more centuries and only Brian Meredith (37) more fifties.Add to this a total of 69 wickets at an average of 21.06 with a best of 6-52 and it is easy to see why Jo is one of the first names on any Arthington team sheet.

Jo is a former 1st team captain and currently holds the post of Secretary for the club.

Congratulations Jo from all at Arthington Cricket Club. Only another 3,317 runs to go!

More Records for Naveed

Naveed Andrabi has been at it again, the prolific run-maker breaking more records at the ACG in the 1st XI's 90-run victory over Pannal 2nd XI on 11th August 2018. The Arthington skipper yet again led by example in registering his 4th century of the season before being cruelly run-out for 124.

The match-winning innings gave Naveed another batting milestone and in the process broke 2 more club batting records. His century was the 9th of Naveed's hundreds for the club, which now sees him hold the record for most league hundreds after overtaking Jo Nash's previous record of 8.

Naveed's knock also saw him pass 2,000 runs for the club, in record-breaking time. He passed the milestone in only his 31st match, which is the quickest ever in the club's history. Naveed is the 11th player to reach this mark, and ironically he now needs exactly 100 runs to break into the top 10 run-scorers of all time for Arthington.

Congratulations Naveed from all at Arthington Cricket Club.
